Psst, secret tip!
Today I tell you about a small, cute and owner-managed restaurant in Théoule-sur-Mer, which should be tried by everyone who stays at the French Riviera and wants to discover the famous French food.
Address Coup de Fourchette:
The restaurant is located on Avenue Charles Dahon 15 in 06590 Théoule-sur-Mer. The food is excellent and for me it’s like the famous and quoted “Food like God in France” (is that also said in English?).
The menu is written on blackboards, which is not uncommon, and then carried to the table, that is somehow something special. And when you’re sitting outside, it also happens that the blackboard is placed between the parked cars. Charming and simple 🙂
The aperitif will be served with an excellent – and of course homemade! – Tapenade. This is a paste of olives eaten on toasted baguette! It is made from olives, anchovies and capers and tastes delicious.
The offer of the restaurant ranges from à la carte to 3 and more course menus. The ingredients depend on the season. But it’s all delicious at any time of year. The mashed potatoes! And the homemade fries! And how beautifully the plates are arranged!
And never, ever, ever do you get to go without dessert! Even not, if you almost burst.
Lokk at that:
That’s chocolat fondant, a warm chocolate cake with a liquid core and a scoop of sensational vanilla ice cream on top – simply to die for! Believe me, you wouldn’t want to miss that…
Finally an little anecdote…
There’s a nice story about how we discovered this restaurant. We probably would have gone in anyway, since Theoule sur Mer is “our” village. But that it became one of our first restaurant visits here was due to a book I read: a German crime story taking place at the Côte d’Azur and which was written by Christine Cazon. Her inspector Duval is a true gourmet and was so enthusiastic about “this little restaurant in Theoule” that we had to find it.
… and a present for you
Meanwhile we are regular guests and when the chef found out about my blog, she was thrilled. So if you say that you came to her restaurant via my blog, a little surprise awaits you!
Don’t miss this culinary gem, even if you are staying in Saint Tropez or Monaco: the journey is really worth it. And let me know how you liked it. Are you as enthusiastic as I am?
